The Bald Eagle Returns
Thursday, March 04, 2010
One of the things we cherish at Rocketts Landing is our extremely close relationship with the James River and the various interactions with nature that are available at any moment. So, it is with tremendous excitement that we celebrate the great bald eagle’s return. After facing extinction on the James River nearly 30 years ago, the eagle has returned to the river in miraculous numbers that are even surprising conservationists. In fact, our residents frequently comment on seeing the great eagles fly by their windows, which offer stunning views of their impressive six- to seven-foot wing spans.
Style Weekly's article, Wings Over the James, offers a compelling read on the details of their return to the James and what that means for the eagle's future, and our own River City sightings.
