Jingle
The Rocketts riverfront came alive with seasonal spirit for the first annual Jingle on the James on this beautiful winter weekend. Over 100 artists displayed fine arts and crafts for sale throughout our neighborhood while choirs and bell choirs performed lively holiday music. The weekend's signature event, the Parade of Lights, set the water aglow with the lighted boat parade while dancers performed with illuminated hula hoops on the riverbank. The event proved to be both joyful and triumphant.

Run To The River
More than 250 runners, walkers and volunteers turned out on this chilly October morning for the 2nd Annual Rocketts Landing Run to the River benefiting the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) of Fulton Hill. Both the 10K and 5K courses took participants over challenging hills, through charming neighborhoods and even along the Rocketts riverfront. All celebrated with warm food, drinks and live music at the award ceremony held in the NRC's community garden. The event raised $30,000 for the NRC, a grassroots, non-profit organization that offers quality programs and resources to families with limited means living in Richmond's East End. October 2, 2009 Landscapes in a Truck Photography Exhibit
In one of the first US showings of his work, Richmond-based artist Shaun Irving displayed remarkable photographs taken with his Cameratruck. Having converted a large truck into a simple lightbox camera, Irving captured Spanish landscapes on canvas-sized photographic paper, allowing the development process to become part of the final artwork. This one night only exhibit in 210 Rock gave residents, visitors and special guests a chance to meet the artist, enjoy music and refreshments and even take home a piece of Irvingís art. Visit www.cameratruck.com to learn more about Shaun Irvingís work.
May 17, 2009 Rocketts Landing Triathlon
For this inaugural Richmond Multisports event, nearly 200 triathletes arrived at Rockettsí riverbank to face a challenging course over land and water. Yet no one expected the sky to become the dayís biggest obstacle. Severe weather rendered the James too choppy for swimming, with even the few brave elite athletes requiring assistance back to shore. The rain, however, couldnít put a damper on the biking and running portion of the day. The course weaved through the nearby Henrico countryside, downtown Richmond and back to the finish line at Rocketts Landing where food, refreshments, live music and the award ceremony awaited inside 210 Rock. The student athletes and spectators enjoyed some unexpected excitement thanks to high winds and unusually choppy waters.
