March 27 - Downtown Loft Tour 2010
Venture Richmond’s annual peek inside fifteen of Richmond’s most exclusive urban residences includes five Rocketts homes this year, ranging from a contemporary one-bedroom to a 4,500 square foot penthouse. For more information and tickets visit Venture Richmond online.
April 10 – 2nd Annual Collegiate Regatta
Virginia Commonwealth University hosts visiting collegiate teams for a second year of races on the Rocketts riverfront. Regatta is scheduled for 10am – 2pm.
May 1 - Richmond Ballet 17th Annual Derby Day Party
Marking its fifth year at Rocketts Landing, this annual event brings the spirit of Churchill Downs to Rocketts Landing where big hats, mint juleps, music and dancing are in full swing. The event benefits the Richmond Ballet. More information is available at RichmondBallet.com.
May 8 – 3rd Annual Cap2Cap Bike Ride
The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation sends cyclists peddling 25-, 50- and 100-mile routes along the trail that connects Williamsburg and Richmond, where Rocketts again plays host to the festivities. Get more info and register at the Virginia Capital Trail’s web site.
June 12 – The 6th Annual Rocketts Landing Sprints Regatta
The Virginia Boat Club kicks off the season on the James with a day of 1000 meter sprints on the Rocketts Landing waterfront. Visit the Virginia Boat Club for updates.
July 25 – 2nd Annual Rocketts Triathlon
Richmond Multisports returns with this 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run for a second year. The course starts at Rocketts, taking athletes into the James, out into the countryside and back through downtown Richmond before ending with a post-race party at Rocketts. July 31 – Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival
This one-of-a-kind athletic event lands at Rocketts Landing for its inaugural year in Richmond. Dragon boats are 40-foot canoes decorated with ornate Chinese dragon heads that are led by the rhythmic beat of a drum and carry teams consisting of 20 synchronized paddlers, one drummer, and one steersperson. October 16 – Rocketts Landing Run to the River 10K
In its third year, this 10 run, 5k walk and 1k fun run takes athletes of all ages over the inclines of nearby Fulton and Libby Hills and down along the Rocketts riverfront. The event benefits the Neighborhood Resource Center of Fulton Hill. Learn more at RunToTheRiver.org.
